Keenley - Date Unknown

The old and the new bridges over the Crockton burn, Keenley. This bridge is situated near Burntongues on the Thornley Gate – Whitfield road.

As this photo shows, the old bridge used to have a much steeper approach down to it on either side until this work raised the bridge significantly to the general level of the road on either side.

The surveyor was W. Temperley.  Research is underway to determine the date of this photo – but it is between 1888 (when the old stone bridge was in use) and 1930.
