Wooley Burnfoot - 1907

Coloured postcard of Bridge End, Allendale. The mill pool and weir at Wooley Burn Foot  (long since disappeared) can be seen in the foreground. This pool was used for winter ice-skating practice into the early 1920s. Sender, staying at ‘Heatherlea’, posted it on Sept. 11th.

Wooley Burnfoot - Circa 1995

The Quaker Meeting House at Wooley Burnfoot was rebuilt in the 1860s, but retains many of the Georgian features of its 1735 predecessor.  It is the oldest Northumbrian meeting house still in use as a place of worship and Quakers have met in the immediate area since at least 1688.
