Joyce Nicholson, a very keen gardener, in her garden at Hunt Law, Station Road. She opened her garden to the public one day a year to raise money for St. Cuthbert’s church. Local folk donated plants for a plant stall, came and bought others and so the garden plants in the valley got well dispersed.
