We welcome junior members. Over two months in 2020 – within Covid-19 obligations – a limited team continued work with Allendale Primary School in order to research local shops and services that existed in Allendale Town between 1850 and 2020.
The study area was about 200m from the school, which meant simple physical access for the children. The focus involved identifying current shops and services – from distanced research re. historical maps and trade directories – before engaging appropriately with long-standing residents and accessing historic advertisements.
