This project – led by Dorothy Collier – was initiated in 2018 to research those Allendonians who gave their lives in the Great War (1914-18). Out of that research, a commemorative exhibition then took place in Allendale’s St Cuthbert’s church hall in 2018.
Research continues – as more records become available – and has since been expanded to those who served in World War 2 and beyond. We welcome any input to fill gaps in our knowledge. If you can tell us more about any individual represented on the local war memorials, or their immediate families, please let us know.
