Spartylea - Date Unknown

A view showing Spartylea Vicarage with the St Peter’s School in the distance. It was built in 1879 and closed in 1973.  This photo predates 1965 as electricity was brought to the school in that year.

Around 1960 the school cook lived in the little house in front of the school.

St Peter’s Church and the Cornmill can be seen in the centre of the photograph.

Looking for a photo of a house called monk house where my father was born in 1931 family name milburn

    1. Dorothy from our site has no doubt replied and let you know that Monk House is situated at 4 Wentworth Terrace, Allendale.

It was the home of the Milburns thoughout the 1930s, including your father, and coincidentally became the retirement home of my great-uncle and great-aunt (Billy and Nancy Fairlamb) after they retired from Allendale Post Office (1970s-1992).

The attached picture, with Monk House central with the white door, is from Google Maps.
